Post Resident Phase
After graduating from the Resident Phase, cadets enter the Post Resident Phase. The cadet returns to their community to continue their education (college or trade school) or enter the job market. During the 12-month cycle of this phase, the cadets are eligible for up to a $2,200 stipend and a $1,000 scholarship for continuing education costs, votech training, and/or job related training or costs.
While in the Post Resident Phase, each cadet is assigned a mentor. The mentor is a volunteer member of the cadet's community, and he/she assists the cadet in achieving the goals set forth in the cadet's Life Plan. The Life Plan is completed in the Resident Phase and sets down educational and vocational goals to be accomplished by the cadet during the Post Resident Phase. However, the most important role of the mentor is to provide a positive role model, coach, and friend for the cadet. The mentor maintains contact with the cadet throughout the 12 months to ensure his/her continued success.
The goals of the Post Resident Phase are to build on the initial successes of the cadet during the Resident Phase, and encourage continued growth and change.
