Cadet Haylee Oskins Class 12

My daughter's story starts just as many other teenagers do.  She hated school and hung with the wrong crowd and started doing drugs by the age of 13.  I'm a single Mom raising two children.  I lost total control of my daughter.  No matter what I did she would just do worse; more drugs, skipping school, BOYS and just being very disrespectful.  She dropped out of school in her junior year but she only had freshman credits.  A friend of my son's at Boy Scouts had a cadet in FLYCA Class 10 and told me about it.  I was so excited, but we would have to wait another six months due to she would turn 16 one month after Class 11 started.  She continued to do worse and her drinking got out of control.  I had to take her to the ER for stitches because she fell into a friend's entertainment center (I learned that truth after she graduated from FLYCA).  I had told her she had to be off all drugs to go to FLYCA and she said she would stop, but 2 weeks before Class 12 would start she tested positive for pot, I was crushed. We somehow got her all cleaned out before the intake and she made it into FLYCA.  She hated me at first but by Family Day a new child was emerging.  I did not recognize her.  FLYCA was a challenge but a challenge she accepted head on.  She joined as many activities as possible.  She was an Ambassador, on the Drill Team, Step Team, and the Student Government Senator. Wow my child amazed me. Well, Cadet Haylee Oskins graduated June 23, 2007 and has been home almost a year and is still doing great.  She holds a full time job as an Assistant Manager at FIREHOUSE subs and attends college.  She did great the first semester of college and struggled the second but is doing well.  She has been drug free and alcohol free since January 2007.  She hangs with a different crowd and if they want to Party, she comes home.  She has shown me more respect in the last year than she has in her entire life.  We have a great relationship now.  She talks about FLYCA almost daily and wants to go back and help others there.  She is making her third trip back to FLYCA to visit next week.  Again WOW.... Is this my daughter?  Thank you FLYCA for bringing my daughter out in the open and making her a wonderful youth.  Without FLYCA, I feel I would have lost my daughter to all the bad in world. FLYCA is the best program anyone can do for a troubled youth.

Thank you
