Academic Curriculum
The DC ChalleNGe Academy provides instruction based on each cadet's needs. The goal of the program is to help each cadet prepare for the District of Columbia General Education Development (GED) certificate. Five Areas of Academic Instruction Each of the areas of instruction are taught in their own classroom by qualified instructors with a specialty in GED instruction. A computer lab is also available for online instruction as well as computerized lesson plans. In the lab, cadets are allowed use of their own computer. Online instruction is given using McGraw-Hills' Contemporary GED software and TABE-PC. The Adult Basic Education The Adult Basic Education (TABE) test is given to each cadet upon completion of the Pre-ChalleNGe Phase of the program. TABE measures the education level of each cadet and aides in the instructors' ability to teach each cadet based on their skill level. A TABE test is also administered upon completion of the program in order to measure each cadet's progress.
