Parents are the most vocal and eloquent about the positive results that ChalleNGe has produced in their children's lives. Below are just a few of the many stories from pleased parents. If you are a proud ChalleNGe parent, email us your story today: info@ngycp.org
Michael Hargis
My son, Michael Hargis, graduated from the Pryor, Oklahoma ChalleNGe campus in December of 2005. Before he went to the Thunderbird Youth Academy he was not a loud, unruly teenager. He was quite the opposite– very quiet and reserved. Quiet doesn't always equate with good behavior, though. He was very smart, but got behind in school because he simply would not go. The biggest problem was just the lack of direction in his life.

In November 2005, my son Brent was bouncing from house to house without any idea where his life was going. Nobody could get through to him and he chose not to live by any rules or boundaries.

People need to know about the S.C. Youth Challenge Academy at Camp Long.
Last January our son Ken agreed to attend the S.C. Youth Challenge Academy at Camp Long. This academy is operated by the S.C. Army National Guard and is their effort to change the lives of troubled teenagers.

Dear General Veillon:
You don't know me and have never heard of me but I feel that I need to express my appreciation and thanks for the wonderful youth challenge program that you are so skillfully in charge of.

Sammy's Story
by Brenda Smith
This is a story about choices. Although everyone's circumstances are different, there is one thing they all have in common and that is the God-given power of choice. We often wonder why one person's outcome is so different than another person's of the same circumstance. I personally believe that this is the direct result of the choices that each individual makes.

As a parent, it is extremely humiliating and discouraging when you have a child, who has such great potential, but is constantly making poor life choices. One who is on a path of self destruction and is in jeopardy of dropping out of high school his Junior year. One who resists all opportunities to succeed and has parents who have tried every avenue available to help them with no avail.

My daughter graduated from the Freestate ChalleNGe this past June 2005. I can say that the program was PERFECT for my daughter.
I really believe that had God not lead her to the program, she would be dead or incarcerated by now. She is a bright young lady who became distracted at school by everything and everybody. So she simply stopped going. She was cutting school to hang out with older guys. We were constantly fighting and arguing and she had no respect for anything or anyone, including herself.
