Merrill Lynch Scholarship
Multiple times during the fifteen year history of the ChalleNGe Program, Merrill Lynch Financial Services have donated one million dollars to the National Guard Youth Foundation to be used for scholarships. Merrill Lynch helps create a level playing field for youngsters of all backgrounds through financial literacy and business savvy. Merrill Lynch provides scholarships valued at two thousand dollars to students furthering their education in two or four year college programs.
Bo Conaway Scholarship
LTG (retired) John Conaway established a memorial scholarship to honor his son Bo who was a Master Craftsmen. Bo enjoyed sharing his considerable knowledge of the building trades with young people entering these skilled professions. Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy is proud to have been selected to present the Bo Conaway Memorial Scholarship
This annual award is made to Challenge graduates in need of financial assistance to pursue careers in the Trades Industries – electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, heating and air conditioning. Our thanks go to the National Guard Youth Foundation for selecting WV grads for this honor.
Wal-Mart
In 2008, the National Guard Youth Foundation developed a national relationship with another well-known business with a large presence in WV – Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is donating scholarships worth up to one thousand eight hundred dollars. These scholarships are available to students in the trade or technical schools. Thank you Wal-Mart for you financial support of this national program.
*To be considered for any of the above scholarships a graduate must be currently enrolled and showing adequate progress towards completion of their degree or certificate.
