To the SCC Staff of the Class of 1995,

My name is Sherri (Suleski) Seback. It has been almost nine years since I graduated from the first class of Seaborne Conservation Corps. On May 1st I will be graduating with a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of West Florida. As the time nears for my graduation I have found myself often thinking about my experience with SCC.

I want to express sincere thanks to all the staff that were there during my class. The word that best describes what I gained through the program is - EMPOWERMENT.  In so many areas of my life I have been able to accomplish the unexpected since completing the program. I'm sure that I could have eventually obtained my GED without SCC but I don't know if I would have ever had enough self -esteem or commitment to accomplish much else.

I acquired life skills and confidence at Seaborne that have served as building blocks to guide my future. I have been employed since completing the program and have done all kinds of volunteer work. Currently, I work as a receptionist and attend school full-time. I have been married for almost six years and have no children yet. My life is relatively stable and goal-oriented. I know that this is due in part to completion of the program at SCC.

Enclosed you will find an invitation to my graduation. This is a major accomplishment for me and I am so excited. I hope that you will share in my excitement. The scholarship that I earned through SCC was my incentive to return to school.
Please contact me if there is ever a reunion for previous classes. At some point I would love to visit SCC again just to see how it has changed. Thanks to all at SCC!

Sincerely,

Sheri (Suleski) Seback
