Applicants are considered for acceptance into the program on a first-come first-served basis. Please submit your application to us as early as possible for consideration.
How to Apply?
All possible candidates who wish to participate must attend a briefing which will be conducted in Fort Allen, Juana Diaz. These briefings are conducted Monday thru Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. There is no need to arrange an appointment. During this briefing the possible candidate will have the opportunity to watch a video which shows how the program is conducted since the moment that the application is received until the cadet's graduation day.
An application and instructions on how to fill it are given to the possible candidates . They also receive information on documents they should hand in with their application. The main purpose of this briefing is to give the possible participants and their legal guardians an idea on how the program works.
Eligibility
The basic eligibility qualifications for acceptance into the program are: applicants must be educationally at risk, free of illegal drugs, be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Puerto Rico, mentally and physically capable to participate, between the ages of 16-19 on class start date, and not under indictment or convicted of a felony offense.
The Puerto Rico Youth Challenge Academy is a drug-free program with zero tolerance. All entering cadets are tested on opening day for illegal drugs and then randomly tested throughout the remainder of the program. Any cadet found to be positive for drugs on opening day is denied entrance to the program and sent home. NO EXCEPTIONS.
