Mentor Application

Become a Mentor

To become a Mentor you must meet the following criteria:

  • Same gender as youth
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Reside within a reasonable distance of the cadet
  • Not be a member of the family, nor a resident in the same household as the cadet
  • Agree to a criminal background check

The overall expectations are:

  • Attend training provided by the program
  • Begin building a relationship with the cadet during the Residential phase
  • Continue the mentor-mentee relationship through visits, mail or email, and telephone during the Post-Residential phase
  • Submit a monthly progress report to the ChalleNGe program
