GED TEST

I received a letter from my cadet. He sounded very discouraged. He failed the first 2 practice ged tests . He has asked us to pray for him. He is thinking about quitting because of the whole GED thing. He has showed much improvement at TYA. I know he wants to get his GED, but I wrote back and told him if he does not pass it there, we will not give up. We can try again when he comes home. Has anyone else had a similiar experience? I don't know what to do to help him. I feel so helpless being so far away from him.

My son said he made a passing score to take the GED but they wont let him take it the first time.  They told him the score needed to be higher.  I dont understand if he made a passing score to take GED why they wont let him take the test.

Dear Cadet Parent, So far

Dear Cadet Parent,

So far this class, the cadets have only taken the TABE test which gives us the grade equivalent for Reading, Math, English, Science and Social Studies.  The cadets who scored 10th grade level or above qualify to take OSU-Okmulgee classes. The first round of GED testing will be APRIL 15 and 16. We will be giving a PRE-GED TEST on March 30 and 31 to determine who gets to take the actual GED. So maybe your cadet misunderstood who gets to take the first GED test, it has not yet been determined who will actually be testing until March 30 and 31.  So the next time you speak or write to your cadet assure him that his chance is NOT over yet.

You are doing all that you

You are doing all that you can do, just keep being supportive and offering the encouragement.  As long as you don't give up he won't give up.

Please feel free to contact

Please feel free to contact a Counselor or the Lead Instructor to discuss your concerns.  Maybe one of them could talk to your cadet and help him feel better about his progress.
