Counselors

Counseling Department

The Counseling Department consists of 3 counselors and the Lead Counselor.  Staff members of the Counseling Dept address the day-to-day issues of the cadets, as well as, their plans for the future.  Counseling staff are available for cadet conferences and welcome parent phone calls.

Specific topics covered during counseling class time include: personal attitudes and values, setting goals, anger management, conflict resolution, job-seeking skills and career decision making.  Students create a personal resume, cover letter, and fill out job applications.

Additionally, the Counseling dept arranges for ASVAB (military career interest inventory) testing and interpretation of the results.  Military recruiters arrange meetings with interested cadets through the Counseling Dept.  Cadets increase computer skills, written and oral expression, and learn life-coping skills on a daily basis.  The Counseling Dept provides a unique opportunity to explore personal interests, evaluate options, and create a plan for the future.

Family Emergency Notification

If an emergency occurs in your family during the class, please do not contact the cadet directly.  Bad news affects the cadets in many ways and we prefer to work out details directly with the parents/guardians first to manage the best situation possible for all affected.

The Director must approve all emergency leave requests.  Requests are evaluated case-by-case and many factors are considered before leave is granted.  Please direct all phone calls to the Lead Counselor and allow as much times as possible for a decision to be made.

Post-Residential Action Plan (PRAP)

Counselors meet with cadets weekly to help cadets create their PRAP goals.
