1. Males - Clothing

6 WHITE under shorts (briefs or boxer briefs - No Boxers!)
3 RED T-shirts (no v-necks)
10 Pairs WHITE athletic socks (mid calf only — no stripes or logos)
1 Pair shower shoes (cheap thong type only)
1 Pair athletic shoes (Purpose: running & marching) (BLACK Preferred)
2 WHITE towels - No other color is permissible.
2 WHITE washcloths - No other color is permissible.
3 Pair of WHITE long winter underwear (winter time only)
1 BLACK Stocking Cap (no logos  or ski masks) (winter time only)
1 Swim trunk (no Speedo or tight fitting suits)
No civilian hats authorized

Personal Hygiene Kit**

1 Bottle of sun block (unscented) SPF 30 or higher
Safety razors - Electric razors not permitted
Fingernail clippers without the metal file
Shaving cream (Liquid-paste type, non-aerosol, can be found at Wal-Mart)
Soap
Toothbrush
Tooth paste
Deodorant (clear stick only)
Non-flavored dental floss (optional)
Unscented hand lotion (optional)
Personal hygiene kit bag
1 BLACK Sharpie clothing marker (to be held by staff)
1 Can KIWI brand BLACK shoe polish & shoe brush
1 Combination lock
1 Mesh laundry bag

** Only bring enough personal hygiene supplies for two weeks. The Academy will conduct essential item trips to the store once a week and additional supplies can be purchased. **

School Supplies Needed:

Notebook (1 — 3 RING BINDER)
Paper (200 sheets)
Pencils
1 Book of postage stamps
1 Box of envelopes

2. Females - Clothing

6 Pair of WHITE underwear (Full cut briefs, no bikini, thong, high cut, etc.)
6 WHITE bras (sport bras only)
3 RED T-shirts (no v-necks)

Applies to ALL Candidates

The following items are not authorized at Thunderbird Youth Academy. If brought, the items will be returned to guardian on in-processing day.
Aerosol cans of any kind                 Straight razor

Notes:
a. The only civilian clothing (jeans, pants, shorts, and shirts) allowed at the
Academy will be what is worn by the cadet on in-processing day. Any
additional clothing (other than what has been identified above) will be
confiscated.

Clothing to be worn on in-processing day:

• Jeans or pants (no holes or frayed cuffs) & a collared shirt (no logo except manufacturer name on inside of tag allowed & no T-shirts)
• Dress outfit (females only)

Cadets will not wear these clothes again and will be confiscated until graduation.

b. A watch is the only jewelry authorized. All other jewelry will be returned to guardian on in-processing day.

c. $25 (max.) is all that will be allowed. Any amount over $25 will be
returned to guardian on in-processing day. Purpose of money: essential
items (personal hygiene products) & hair cuts for males. Should have at least 5 one dollar bills to pay barber on Day 1.

d. No luggage allowed. Please bring all required items in a large mesh laundry bag.  Purpose: the Academy does not have space to store luggage or keep up with it. If used, it will be returned to guardian on in-processing day. Please assist us with this requirement.

e. Ten (10) pictures allowed. No gang signs, nudity, or inappropriate behavior allowed in the pictures. The Academy will determine what is or is not appropriate. Again, all inappropriate pictures will be returned to guardian on in-processing day. Must be real photographs. No pictures are to be carried on you or in your books.
