NEW! TYA receives award for top Life Coping Skills component at the January 2009 National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Conference in Dallas.

Jan. 2007 -We are pleased to announce that Thunderbird Youth Academy was awarded the Best All Around Program of 2006 out of 30 National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Programs at the Annual National Guard Youth ChalleNGe conference.

Graduation Recognition

  • Distinguished Honor Graduate - Awarded to the top graduate of the class.  This cadet must be in the top 1/3 of academics, physical fitness and senier leadership rating.
  • Distinguished Cadet Leader - This cadet must display the strongest leadership abilities during the class.
  • Distinguished Academic Graduate - This cadet must have earned his GED, cannot be failing in any subject areas, and have the highest average on the final academic report.
  • Greatest Academic Improvement - Cadet who made the most academic improvement during the class.
  • Physical Fitness Test Awards - Two categories determined by the President's Challenge for Physical Fitness exam and are separated by male and female categories.
