About Roswell

Made famous by the crash landing of an alien spacecraft in 1947, Roswell is a medium-sized city of about 50,000 residents located 200 miles south of Albuquerque and about 280 miles north of El Paso.  Home of the New Mexico Military Institute, which can trace its roots back to the 1800s, Roswell is an all-American city.

Figures such as Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett often passed through on the trail made famous by a cattle baron named John Chissum.  In the 1930s, Robert H. Goddard conducted his rocket experiments in Roswell, which led to our modern-day space program.

Roswell hosts several museums, including the UFO Museum, The Museum of Native American History, and an observatory next door to the Robert H. Goddard museum.
