The Montana Youth ChalleNGe Program (MYCP) opened its doors September 1, 1999. We are currently in our nineteenth class, and commencement is scheduled for December 20, 2008! We now have 1,280 MYCP graduates to date and are looking foward to many many more walking across that stage!!
MYCP is sponsored by the National Guard and the State of Montana. That is why there is no cost to you.
The first two weeks are known as our Pre-ChalleNGe Phase and are held at Fort Harrison, in Helena, Montana. We then transition into our Residential Phase for the next five months. This takes place on the campus of the University of Montana - Western, in Dillon, Montana.
The final phase of our program is crucial, and is the backbone of ChalleNGe. This is our Post Residential (Mentoring) Phase. The Post Residential (PR) Phase runs for one full year, beginning two months prior to graduation from the Residential Phase.
We are a hundred-bed program and currently have forty-two full time staff members. Our program is one of thirty programs located around the country and one in Puerto Rico. Each program caters to that state's at-risk youth.
