The Cadet of the Week is essentially a showcase of leadership by example. The Cadet is selected by our staff on a weekly basis. The Eight Core Components are reviewed and staff selects the Cadet that overall best demonstrates each core component.
The Cadet of the Week for week 7 is Cadet Michael Summers.Cadet Summers of Howell Michigan is 16 years old.While at the MYCA he has served as a squad leader and platoon sergeant.He has excelled at physical fitness scoring a 454 out of 500 points on his last pt test.He has been elected to represent his squad as a member of the student council.And was promoted to the rank of Cadet Private on 14 Aug 09.
The Cadet of the Week for week 8 is Cadet Private Sandra Scherberger.Cadet Scherberger is 19 years old and hails from Olivet Michigan.While at the MYCA she has served as a squad leader and platoon sergeant.She was elected to represent her squad on the student council and was selected to the MIT squad.She has excelled in the classroom and physically scoring 457 out of 500 points on her last physical fitness test..She has set a positive example to follow and was selected to represent the MYCA in Lansing for the Michigan Youth Challenge Academy Advocacy Day.
The Cadet of the Week for week 10 is Cadet Private First Class Mitchell Taylor.Cadet Taylor is 17 years old from Garden City Michigan.Since arriving at the Youth Challenge Academy Cadet Taylor has performed the duties of a Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant.He has excelled in the classroom, maintaining a straight A average.He is one of five cadets that were selected to the academy Color Guard.And most impressively has already lost nearly 50lbs and reduced his mile run time by over three minutes.
