The Hoosier Youth ChalleNGe Academy intervenes in the lives of at-risk youth by training, mentoring, and developing these individuals into responsible and productive citizens while in a controlled, quasi-military, residential setting, followed by a post-residential phase.

About Us

Program Overview

Hoosier Youth ChalleNGe Academy (HYCA) is a preventive rather than remedial "youth at risk" program, that targets unemployed, drug free, high school dropouts, 16-18 years of age.

The HYCA staff is comprised of adults who have a vested interest and genuine concern for our societies future leaders.  Come join us as we develop, guide, and mentor to our future, the Youth.

Core Components

The ChalleNGe Program is designed around an intervention model built on eight core components needed for successful living. The eight core components of the intervention model focus on the holistic development of the participants. Much of a corpsmember`s skill development process is based on deliberate experiential learning situations created by the staff. The eight core components and performance measures associated with each component are listed below.

Curriculum

HYCA provides individualized instruction based on the needs of each cadet.  This aides in preparing them for academic success.  Academic courses focus on Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Writing.  All ChalleNGe paticipants attend daily academic classes preparing them for testing for the General Education Development (GED) credential, a high school diploma, or increase math and reading comprehension.  Evaluation of Corps members' grade level progress durin
