Eligibility

The basic eligibility qualifications for acceptance into the program are; applicants must be between the ages of 16-19 on class start date, free of illegal drugs, educationally at risk, mentally and physically capable to participate, Illinois resident, and not under indictment or convicted of a felony offense.

The following convictions will render an applicant ineligible to attend the Lincoln's Challenge Academy:

  • Aggravated Assault or Aggravated Battery
  • Armed Robbery or Robbery
  • Arson
  • Burglary
  • Carnal Knowledge
  • Indecent Acts or liberties with a minor
  • Check worthless, making or uttering, with intent to defraud or deceive (over $1,000)
  • Child Abuse
  • Grand larceny or embezzlement (over $1,000)
  • Indecent Assault
  • Kidnapping or abducting
  • Maiming or disfiguring, manslaughter
  • Murder
  • Negligent homicide
  • Rape or criminal sexual assault
  • Selling or leasing weapons to a minor
  • Selling or distributing drugs or other narcotics
  • Sodomy

A mandatory drug screen will be conducted on opening day.  Applicants may not enter the PreChalleNGe Phase if they test positive for the presence of illegal drugs.
